Session Title: Mental Health First Aid
Session Dates, Times & Locations:
Two hours of self-paced online learning will be required before attending this session. Participants will receive their pre-work two weeks before the course. As such, participants must sign up by May 1, 2025.
- Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in ICW-108BC
- Tuesday, June 3 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Microsoft Teams
- Wednesday, June 11 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in ICW-108BC
Session Description:
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) equips participants with the skills to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. This evidence-based training will provide you with practical tools to interact effectively with individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and guide them toward appropriate support. This session will cover:
- Common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges
- How to interact with someone in crisis
- How to connect individuals with the help they need
- Expanded content on trauma, substance use, and self-care
