The Body Keeps the Score Book Study

February 8 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join the Center for Academic Innovation for a book study on “The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma” by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. During this book study, we will explore how trauma can reshape neural pathways, influence emotions, and manifest in physical symptoms. Additionally, we’ll discuss van der Kolk’s insights into therapeutic approaches for healing. This book study is an opportunity to enhance our understanding of trauma and explore resilience and healing.

Please note that “The Body Keeps the Score” contains detailed discussions of physical and sexual abuse, PTSD, and the intense emotional turmoil experienced by trauma survivors. We encourage readers to approach this content with caution, particularly if they have personal experiences with trauma. Participation in this book study does not require personal disclosure.

Given the sensitive nature of this topic, each book study group is limited to 20 participants and sessions will not be recorded. To ensure a consistent and engaged group, this book study is reserved for individuals who can attend regularly. Participants can sign up for one of two groups:
