Generative AI & Curriculum

In response to the rapid rise of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), the Center for Academic Innovation has organized a series of educational development sessions aimed at preparing and informing faculty about the latest advancements in this transformative technology. Faculty are encouraged to participate in any or all of these sessions to gain insights into how AI is impacting both the classroom environment and the broader field of education.

Description:

Have you noticed students submitting work that appears to be created by generative artificial intelligence (GenAI)? How have you been addressing this phenomenon in your courses?

In this open conversation, whether you allow GenAI use or not, we invite you to share your experiences, insights, and strategies around student genAI use for their coursework. We’ll discuss questions such as:

• When do you allow or not allow students to use GenAI?
• What does your syllabus say about GenAI use or citing?
• What ethical considerations arise when evaluating what appears to be GenAI student work?
• Have you adapted your curriculum or incorporated class discussions around GenAI in coursework or the workplace?
• What techniques have you found effective in when discussing GenAI use with students?

Let’s learn from each other and share practical approaches to navigate this evolving technology.
