You have an email from Title IX. What now?
In 1972, Title IX was passed and signed into law, prohibiting discrimination in education on the basis of sex. 50 years, hundreds of court cases, and over 2000 pages of regulations later, Title IX now protects pregnant students and new parents while also providing a grievance procedure for victims of sexual harassment.
With this background, confusion and mystery has emerged within colleges and universities as to what the rights of the students are when it comes to the classroom. OTC’s Title IX and Project Heal Offices want to clear up the mystery and answer any questions you may have when you hear from our offices. Does the student get out of an assignment? Can they really be absent for four weeks? Am I alone in this process? We aim to answer these questions and more over a virtual training session.
