Undoing Grading

During this free webinar, we’re exploring alternatives to grading. We’ll be joined by Jesse Stommel, author of the new book Undoing the Grade: Why We Grade, and How to Stop. Jesse Stommel is currently a faculty member in the Writing Program at the University of Denver. He teaches courses about pedagogy, film, digital studies, and composition. His research focuses on higher education pedagogy, critical digital pedagogy, and assessment. Stommel has a PhD from the University of Colorado Boulder. He co-founded Hybrid Pedagogy: the Journal of Critical Digital Pedagogy and the Digital Pedagogy Lab (2015-2021). He is co-author of An Urgency of Teachers: the Work of Critical Digital Pedagogy. I plan on asking first about how to convince faculty members that ungrading is a good idea. Second, how institutions can support such a change. More importantly, you will have the chance to ask your own questions. After all, the way the Forum works is that all attendees can ask our guests questions, engage and collaborate with other leaders in education technology, and also invite friends and colleagues to join.
