Free Webinar: The Changing Professor-Student Dynamic

January 28, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Presented by The Chronicle of Higher Education

Teaching is hard work, and too often, professors go it alone. Traditional approaches to lectures, assignments, and grading aren’t always effective. Students have complicated lives outside of class. Faculty members have to decide how much flexibility to give them, and how accessible to be.

All of that was true before the pandemic, but the past two years have made these problems harder to ignore. This spring, we’re making space for instructors — and the academic administrators who support them — to hear evidence-based ideas for tackling the challenges they’re facing right now.

Starting in January, Beth McMurtrie and Beckie Supiano, Chronicle senior writers and authors of our free, weekly Teaching newsletter, will host a monthly series of roundtable discussions with teaching experts to discuss the topics that concern you most — and answer your questions. And we’ll continue the conversation in the Teaching newsletter.

Learning Goals
– Learn how to design a course that treats students as whole people — without lowering your standards.
– Consider how to bring your “new self” to the classroom after your experience of the past two years.
– Get ideas for connecting with students on a human level — and be reminded of what that matters.
– Find community with other instructors grappling with these challenges.
